Crawford County Woman Dies in Single Vehicle Car Accident at 32
As reported by 13WMAZ, an early morning car accident in Crawford County has left a thirty-two-year-old woman dead. According to Georgia State Patrol (GSP), the Knoxville, Georgia woman was driving west on Highway 42 when she drove off the highway near Causey Road.
After departing the highway and driving into a curve near Causey Road, the woman’s vehicle traveled down an embankment, where the roof of the vehicle slammed into a tree. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. GSP has not indicated the type of vehicle the woman was driving or any other details about the accident. As such, no definitive cause of the single-vehicle accident is known.
Common Causes of Single-Vehicle Accidents
Single-vehicle accidents are often deadly given many single-vehicle accidents involve cars that leave the roadway and collide with trees, buildings, concrete walls, and barriers that make the accident more dangerous. Vehicles are no match for fixed objects, and drivers often sustain debilitating and fatal injuries resulting from single-vehicle accidents.
Common causes of single-vehicle car accidents that a Tifton car accident attorney often sees include, among others, the following:
- Falling asleep at the wheel
- Misjudging a curve or failing to properly negotiate a curve
- Low visibility (especially on dark two-lane highways in rural Georgia)
- Texting while driving or otherwise engaging in distracting behavior while behind the wheel
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (including prescription drugs)
- Failed brakes
- Failed tires
- Other vehicular defects
- Wildlife, such as a deer that causes a vehicle to swerve and leave the highway
A person who sustains injuries in a single-vehicle accident will likely seek compensation for property damage and physical injuries by filing a claim with the person’s insurance company. While the intent of filing an insurance claim is good, doing so without the help of a Tifton car accident attorney can be extremely risky, especially when blame can be assessed to another party (such as a car manufacturer in the case of a vehicular defect).
Insurance companies want to minimize the value of an injured person’s claim. Ways in which insurance companies minimize the value of a claim include, but are not limited to, attempting to show the injured person was at fault for causing the accident, that the accident could have been avoidable, and that the injuries at issue are not that serious.
Insurance companies have aggressive lawyers whose job is to fight tirelessly for their clients. Injured victims need even stronger lawyers on their side. To have the best chance of recovering compensation following a single-vehicle accident, an injured car accident victim needs the advice and guidance of a Tifton car accident lawyer who is no stranger to fighting with insurance companies inside and outside the courtroom.
